<p>E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, The Wizard of Oz highlight growing film series’ 2008 summer line-up</p>
<p>LITTLE ROCK – Movies in the Park, the popular outdoor movie night at the Riverfest Amphitheater today announced its 2008 summer schedule with a diverse list of titles, including blockbusters like E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, along with oldie hits Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and The Wizard of Oz.</p>
<p>Movies in the Park begins its fourth season with a special thanks to sponsors Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Comcast, the Downtown Little Rock Partnership, the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, the River Market and Stone Ward. The movies will play weekly on Wednesday nights beginning June 4 and running through July 23.</p>
<p>“We are excited about the fourth year of Movies in the Park,” said Blake Rutherford, head of the Movies in the Park volunteer steering committee. “We owe a special thanks to all of our sponsors and all of the people who continue to come and enjoy outdoor movies. In 2007, we saw more people than ever come downtown to enjoy a free movie at Riverfront Park.”</p>
<p>Moviegoers are encouraged to bring families, picnics and pets to the park to enjoy an outdoor movie under the stars. The amphitheater will open an hour before film showings and movies will start at sundown each week. The movies are free and open to the public.</p>
<p>“Movies in the Park provide families the opportunity to explore downtown and enjoy a movie together,” said Sharon Priest, executive director of the Downtown Partnership. “We believe this is another strong cultural attraction that complements the continued growth and vitality of downtown Little Rock.”</p>
<p>The 2008 schedule includes:</p>

<p>LITTLE ROCK &#8211; Movies in the Park, the FREE outdoor movie series at the<br />
Riverfest Amphitheater, wrapped up its 2007 season with record attendance<br />
numbers.</p>
<p>The eight 2007 Movies in the Park films had an average crowd of more than<br />
980 moviegoers with a total of more than 7,900 people attending the<br />
Wednesday night film series throughout the year. Wizard of Oz on August 1<br />
set an attendance record for the 3-year-old series with a crowd of over<br />
1,700.</p>
<p>Popularity for Movies in the Park has grown since the series averaged 450<br />
people per film in its inaugural season in 2005 and 600 per movie in 2006.</p>
<p>“The momentum for Movies in the Park continues to grow from<br />
season-to-season and we are thrilled that downtown and the city as a whole<br />
have embraced this concept,” said Blake Rutherford, volunteer founder of<br />
Movies in the Park. “We have to thank our sponsors for their support to<br />
make free outdoor movies possible in Little Rock.”</p>
<p>Movies in the Park sponsors are Baptist Health, Comcast, Entergy, the<br />
Little Rock Downtown Partnership, the Little Rock Convention and Visitors<br />
Bureau, Moses Tucker, the River Market and Stone Ward.</p>
<p>“Movies in the Park makes a tremendous impact on the entertainment and<br />
cultural experience downtown,” said Sharon Priest, executive director of<br />
the Little Rock Downtown Partnership. “It brings a diverse crowd downtown<br />
to not only enjoy the movies, but also to eat dinner, shop and enjoy all<br />
that downtown has to offer.”</p>
<p>Movies in the Park also announced its 2008 schedule Wednesday. The films to<br />
be shown include:</p>
